Repair or replace?

An honest answer, either way

A quick rule of thumb: if your system is over 12–15 years old and the repair costs more than a third of a new one, replacing usually makes more sense. If it's younger, repair it.

We'll show you the numbers both ways and let you decide. No pressure, no 'today only' pricing.

About us

Hi, I'm Ryan.

I've been working on furnaces and air conditioners for 16 years. In 2019 I started Bluestem so I could do it the way I always thought it should be done: show up on time, explain the problem, and never push a system someone doesn't need.

Today we're three technicians and an office manager, all from Lyon County. Prairie summers and winters are hard on equipment; we're here for both.

On a real site, this spot shows the owner's actual state license number, exactly as issued. The number on this sample, EXAMPLE-00000, is a placeholder and not a real license.

FAQ

Heating & cooling questions

Do you offer maintenance plans?

Yes. A yearly plan includes a spring AC tune-up and a fall furnace tune-up, plus priority scheduling. Pricing is on the quote form.

Repair or replace: how do I decide?

If your system is over 12–15 years old and the repair is more than about a third of the cost of a new one, replacing usually makes sense. We'll give you prices both ways.

Do you offer emergency service?

Yes. If you have no heat in winter or no cooling in a heat wave, call and we'll get there as soon as we can, including evenings and weekends. After-hours rates apply.

Do you help with rebates?

We'll tell you about any utility or manufacturer rebates that currently apply to the equipment you choose, and help with the paperwork.

How often should filters be changed?

Every 1–3 months for standard 1-inch filters, more often with pets or during heavy-use seasons. Thicker media filters can last 6–12 months.

Are you licensed?

Yes. On a real site, the owner's actual license number appears here and in the footer. The number shown on this sample is a placeholder.
